New Okhla Industrial Development Authority or Noida, is located in the Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh in the outskirts of Delhi. This planned city was set up in 1976 with a view to develop an integrated industrial township for the industrial growth of the area. The development area covers about 20,316 hectares of land consisting of 81 villages of the Gautam Budh Nagar district.
Noida is only 14 kilometers from Central Delhi and is connected to the capital by multiple highways. These include the DND Flyway, a 9.2 kilometer 8-lane tolled road across River Yamuna connecting Maharani Bagh in South Delhi to Noida and reducing commute time to Delhi to about 15 minutes. Several localities in East Delhi such as Mayur Vihar, New Ashok Nagar and Vasundhara Enclave connect with Noida on northern end. Sector 62 in Noida is only 12 minutes away from Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi through the NH24.Noida is home to some of India's largest IT conglomerates such as Sapient, TCS, WIPRO, HCL Technologies, Accenture and IBM, among others. Other organizations like NTPC, IBP, GAIL, ICMR, BHEL and FDDI also have offices in Noida.
Noida is planned as an agglomeration of sectors. Each sector in Noida is well-equipped with local markets, parks, hospitals, schools and banks. Greater Noida, which is a sub town of Noida, is equipped with excellent infrastructure and is connected to Noida through the Greater Noida Expressway which starts at Sector 44 in Noida and ends at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. This expressway is also connected to the 150-kilometre long Yamuna Expressway which connects Noida to Agra.
Yamuna Expressway is also an upcoming sub town close to Noida. The Buddh International Circuit F1 circuit in the area has put Noida on the world map. Noida is the first suburb of Delhi to get metro connectivity. It currently has 6 stations-Sector 15, Sector 16, Sector 18, Botanical Garden, Golf Course and City Centre.
