Grappling with a cash crunch, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has decided to raise funds by cracking down on allottees who have not paid their dues. The state urban body has to recover Rs 3,333 crore from people across the state, of which Rs 347 crore arrears have to be recovered from Gurgaon residents alone. These defaulters were allotted commercial, residential, social, religious, industrial, institutional, and charitable properties by the Haryana government in the last couple of years.

Under the plan, Huda officials have been asked to nail defaulters, especially those who have dues running over Rs 10 lakh, and send them notices under Sections 17(1) and 17(2) of the Huda Act. On failed to clear the dues, defaulters will have to face legal action.

Meanwhile, 96 commercial properties in Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Rewari were listed by the urban body for sale but it managed to peddle only 10 properties which were auctioned in March this year. The urban body plans to auction its commercial and residential properties across developed sectors in the region.
