Description

Almost 64 per cent of the air pollution in Delhi during the winters is caused by external factors, a new report said, suggesting that emissions are growing despite the steps taken by the government. According to a study jointly conducted by the The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), about 13 per cent of pollution in Delhi comes from outside India.

The Greater Noida Bench of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA) met a group of homebuyers, representing 10 different associations, in its first face-to-face interaction on August 16. From September 4, the panel will start hearing cases in Greater Noida four times a week — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Noida Authority will now allot residential plots to eligible farmers, whose land was acquired for development projects between 1997 and 2009, near their villages under a uniform policy. Earlier, plots were randomly picked across Noida sectors and allotted with no such consideration, leading to farmers alleging only the “influential” people were able to get lots in prime locations.

The Uttar Pradesh government might drop the Jewar International Airport project in Gautam Buddh Nagar on Delhi's outskirts if the farmers did not agree to hand over their land for acquisition, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Chairman Prabhat Kumar has said. The authority met over 100 farmers of six villages in Noida and tried to clear their doubts regarding the land acquisition.
