The foundation-laying ceremony of the Greater Noida International Airport at Jewar would be performed before Diwali this year, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would attend the event, state government officials said on May 14. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, the nodal agency for the project, is also planning to float the scheme for development of hotel, motel, plaza, shopping centre and convention centre near the airport soon.

The Supreme Court on May 14 set up a three-member panel for auction of real estate major Unitech Ltd's unencumbered immovable properties of over 600 acre to refund homebuyers. Unitech has recently submitted to the apex court a list of its unencumbered land properties spread across Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka.

Homebuyers are divided on the takeover of insolvency-hit Jaypee Infratech, it appears. While there is absolute unanimity among buyers that the firm should not be liquidated, they have different opinions about its takeover. While a section of buyers is opposing the bid made by the company’s erstwhile promoters Jaypee Group, another section is in favour of the move.

Dewan Housing Finance (DHFL) said it is planning to raise Rs 3,000 crore through a non-convertible debenture issue. The issue has an option to retain oversubscription of up to Rs 9,000 crore aggregating to Rs 12,000 crore. Some media reports are estimating the aggregate at Rs 15,000 crore also.
