#RealtyNewsRoundUp: Govt Increases Carpet Area Of Houses Under PM Awas Yojana
The Centre has approved the enhancement of the carpet area of houses for the middle-income group (MIG) category under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. Under the MIG-I category, the carpet area of the houses has been enhanced from 90 square metre (sqmt) to 120 sqmt; under the MIG-II segment, it has been increased to 150 sqmt from the current 110 sqmt.
The Delhi government will roll out a scheme within three-to-four months under which 40 public services, including driving licences, caste certificates and new water connections, would be delivered at the doorsteps of the citizens. Approximately 25 lakh transactions of these 40 services are held every year. Each transaction takes around four visits to the office concerned by the applicant.
Meanwhile, after the South Delhi Municipal Corporation rolled back the increase on November 16, civic bodies in east and north Delhi have also taken back the four-time parking fees hike.
The National Green Tribunal has directed 10 builders in Faridabad to give bank guarantee of Rs 50 lakh each within three days, failing which their bank accounts would be attached, over dysfunctional sewage treatment plants (STPs). It asked the builders to upgrade their STPs, and then approach the Haryana Pollution Control Board which will carry out an inspection.
Meanwhile, the NGT has banned all types of construction, residential or commercial, in any part of the "green, forest and core areas" of Himachal Pradesh, and within three metres of the national highways. The NGT has also restrained the Himachal Pradesh government and its departments from cutting hills and forests without prior submission of application for sanctioning of plans for construction.
Virgin Hyperloop One has entered into a pact with the Maharashtra government to conduct a preliminary study to identify potential routes for the new transportation mode and analyse its economic impact. The hyperloop mode uses technology in which a vehicle in a special tunnel floats above the track, using magnetic levitation, at a top speed of over 1,000 km per hour.
