#RealtyNewsRoundup: Housing Ministry Gets Rs 48,000 Cr In This Year’s Budget

The housing and urban affairs ministry has been allocated nearly Rs 48,000 crore in the Budget 2019-20, 17 per cent more than what was allocated in the 2018-19 Budget. Of this, over Rs 6,800 crore has been given to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). There is also an increase of 25 per cent allocation for the Metro projects, from Rs 14,865 crore in 2018-19 to Rs 17,714 crore this year.

India’s first highway corridors equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles are expected to come up along the Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Agra highways by 2020. Eighteen such charging stations will be set up at the toll plazas at a total of 500-km stretch, from Delhi to Agra and Delhi to Jaipur. Each station will have up to 10 chargers and 20 charging points.

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has said that developers must also refund homebuyers the interest they have paid so far on the home loan if a project is delayed.

The Supreme Court has directed the Centre to come up with a plan start construction of all stalled Unitech projects. The apex court has also asked the Centre to suggest the modalities and name of the third-party agency that could take up the projects.
