In a list compiled by the government, Ghaziabad has been ranked third in India in terms of cleanliness and sanitation in rural areas. The list is topped by Bankura in West Bengal while Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir has grabbed the second position. A total 412 district took part in the survey.

A total of 5,151 projects have been proposed by cities in their Smart City Proposals and they have all incorporated special purpose vehicles, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri told the Rajya Sabha on January 3. In a written reply, the minister told the Upper House that all the cities had incorporated special purpose vehicles and constituted city-level advisory while 97 of them had procured project management consultants.

A tighter liquidity condition would lead to housing finance companies (HFCs) losing their market share to banks amid slow growth in the current financial year, rating agency ICRA has predicted. With loans extended to construction projects turning bad, the liquidity crunch could turn out even more severe than it is now, says the rating agency.

In a move that would benefit 46,000 tenants who live in the buildings developed by the municipal body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started to online transfer of tenancy rights from January 1. Certificates will be issued to the applicant within 33 days of submitting the documents, says the BMC.
