Singapore has been ranked as the most expensive city in the world while Paris and Hong Kong occupy the second and third spot in a list by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). In the list of 133 cities, Indian cities of Mumbai (122), New Delhi (123), Chennai (125) and Bengaluru (129) have been ranked as comparatively affordable cities.

The Metro link to Hi-Tec City, the IT hub of Hyderabad, is all set for launch on March 20, with Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana ESL Narasimhan flagging off the train operations. The 10-km stretch with nine stations will establish the crucial Metro Rail connectivity to the highly congested IT/ITES service areas of Hi-Tec City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, etc.

The authority, which launched its housing scheme for 2019 on March 7, is planning to offer sample flat to buyers in order to help them make an informed decision.

Sluggish sales pulled down average prices of residential properties in Kolkata by four per cent on-year during July-December 2018, says a report by a real estate consultant. However, due to early development of affordable housing projects in northern and southern peripherals in the past few years, and good response from end-users, the southern micro-markets reversed the sales downtrend to post a 13 per cent on-year upswing in residential sales in the second half of 2018, the report indicated.
