The Uttar Pradesh government February 7 earmarked Rs 800 crore to acquire land for the Jewar International Airport while presenting the Budget for financial year 2019-20. Presenting a Rs 4.9-lakh-crore Budget, the state also allocated Rs 3,522 crore for the maintenance of roads and expressways.

Homebuyers in Maharashtra will be able to register their properties through their Aadhaar Card without having to produce two witnesses for the purpose from March. The move would speed up the process of property registration in the state, apart from putting an end to benami property transactions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a Rs 1,938-crore highway project in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri on February 8. On completion, the project will reduce the distance from Salsalabari and Alipurduar to Siliguri by nearly 50 km.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed as many as 5,473 properties in February so far because the owners had defaulted on property tax payments. The corporation has also recovered dues to the tune of over Rs 21 crore through the sealing drive.
