The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government has set an ambitious target of generating five lakh jobs every year, attracting Rs 5000 crore investment and increasing the arrival of foreign tourists by 10 per cent in Uttar Pradesh's new tourism policy. Another highlight of the new policy is the plan to set up about 50 heritage hotels in the country's largest state.

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has asked real estate major Unitech to refund Rs 29.5 lakh to a homebuyer for not delivering timely possession of an allotted flat. The proposed Rs 91-lakh apartment was booked in March 2011 with an agreement to handover the possession within three years. The buyer alleged that despite paying Rs 29.5 lakh to the developer, the construction work had not begun which led him to approach the NCDRC for relief.

Canada has sought Indian investments in the billion-dollar infrastructure sector road map of that country over the next 10 years. The areas of infrastructure development include public transit, trade corridors, port and airport. Different Canadian funds have so far invested about 10 billion Canadian dollars in India. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is currently in India with an aim to strengthen ties between the two nations.

The Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has decided to give one more chance to developers who had not applied for registration of their projects till December 31, 2017. The authority has asked such builders to submit applications for registration of their projects and avoid punitive action on payment of late fees to the tune of 100 per cent of the fees payable under Rule 3(4).
