Top Five Buildings Of 2015 & Ahead!

The year 2015 might not have been the most prosperous year for many, globally. Yet, the year has a place in the history of real estate as it saw the launch of a few of the world's tallest buildings. Here are a few of the top buildings of 2015 and some to be launched in 2016:

  • Marina 101, DubaiMarina 101 of Dubai, under construction and expected to be launched in 2015-16, is touted as the world's tallest hotel and furnished apartments complex. It is also expected to be the second tallest building of Dubai after Burj Khalifa, and the tallest in Dubai Marina. As the name suggests, the building that will be 1,394 feet tall will have 101 floors and is being built by Sheffield Holdings. The first 33 floors will house Hard Rock International along with Abu Dhabi Financial Group. The top floor will have Hard Rock Café & Lounge. The apartments that will be built will also carry the luxury tag and range between 1 BHK homes to duplex penthouses at the top end of the building.
  • 432 Park Avenue, New York CityTowards the western side of Park Avenue and on the most preferred real estate pieces in Manhattan is where 432 Park Avenue is located. Classified as a super-tall building, it is as high as Marina 101 at 1,396 feet. The building which will be launched in 2015-16 is taller than the iconic Empire State Building and is expected to be the second tallest in New York after One World Trade Center. It will also be the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. The building will have 104 condominiums that will range from studio apartments to six-bedroom and seven-bathroom penthouses. The building will also have a golf training facility with private dining rooms and screening halls.
  • PingAn Finance Centre, ShenzhenThe building which is being built by Ping An Insurance is expected to be completed in 2016 and is around 1,821-feet tall. After launch, it is expected to be the fourth tallest building in the world. The building will contain office, hotel and retail space. It will also include a premium shopping mall along with a large conference centre. The building is located in the central business district of Shenzhen and is 115 storeys tall.
  • Lotte World Tower, Seoul 
  • Lotte World Tower of Seoul aspires to be the tallest building in the Korean peninsula after its launch in late 2016. Commissioned by Lotte World, known for its recreation complexes, Lotte World Tower will be a mixed-use building. The building will be around 1,821-feet tall and will have 123 storeys. Of these, the first six floors will be reserved for retail and the next six as office space. Residences will take up space till the 85th floor. The rest is earmarked for a luxury hotel, along with the top few floors reserved for public access and an observation deck.

  • Shanghai Tower, Shanghai
  • Shanghai Tower, launched in September 2015, is not only the tallest building in China but also the second tallest in the world after Burj Khalifa. The building is owned by a consortium of Chinese state-owned companies and is 2,073-feet high. The building's 128 storeys provide room for around four million square feet for office, retail and leisure space. The uniqueness of the building however is in its shape. The building is in the form of nine cylindrical buildings stacked atop each other. These nine buildings have their own atria, providing a 360-degree view of the city. The building was also designed using sustainable principles saving heavily on cost of material.

    Among other top buildings that might be launched in 2016 is Mumbai's World One which is touted to become one of the world's largest residential buildings, being built by the Lodha Group. At 1,450 feet, the building will house premium homes at one of the priciest locations of Lower Parel in Mumbai. Yet another Chinese building that will add to the list of the world's tallest in 2016 is Wuhan Centre located in Central China. It is expected to be around 1,300-feet tall and is earmarked for mixed-use development.
