The housing ministry on June 25 announced its plans to set up a common online platform for real estate regulatory authorities (RERA) of all the states and Union Territories. The move is aimed at giving homebuyers and other stakeholders a common platform to exchange views, making the law stronger. Meanwhile, the ministry also said that homebuyers investing in a property through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) would not be able to avail of benefits under the Credit- Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) if the project was not registered with the RERA.

The Haryana government had on June 25 approved new building norms, under which it allowed the construction of housing projects on land parcels as small as 25 acre. The move is expected to increase supply of housing units stabilise property prices consequently.

Meanwhile, the National Green Tribunal has imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on the Haryana State Pollution Control Board after the latter failed to submit the annual report on the implementation of Plastic Waste Management Rules.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on June 25 directed Ansal Properties to stop construction work at its township project in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok for violation of environment norms. The board has also imposed a fine of Rs 14.7 crore as compensation.

For the second time in a row, Kerala has emerged as the fittest state in country in the Health Index released by the Niti Aayog on June 25. Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra took the second and the third spot, respectively. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha were the worst performers in the index.
