With South Korean electronics major Samsung on July 9 inaugurating the world's largest mobile phone factory in Noida, the city, along with Greater Noida, is set to become a global hub for mobile manufacturing. The setting up the manufacturing facility by Samsung, say experts, would attract an investment to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore, and create jobs for as many as three lakh people.

The Godrej Group has moved the Bombay High Court, challenging the proposed acquisition of its prime property in suburban Vikhroli to pave way for the government's Bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The company is seeking a change in the project's alignment to get nearly 8.6 acre of land belonging to its infrastructure arm Godrej Construction out of the project's map.

Heavy rain brought India’s financial capital Mumbai to a standstill on July 9, flooding streets and badly affecting life. The rainfall led to traffic snarls as many roads and streets in the metropolis were flooded and people were seen wading through knee-deep water. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the metropolis has already received 54 per cent of its average monsoon season rainfall in the past 20 days.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has given its approval to Mumbai-based real estate major Lodha Group to launch its initial public offering (IPO). The company is planning to raise Rs 5,500 crore through the IPO.
