Suraksha Asset Reconstruction Company has emerged as the surprise frontrunner to acquire Jaypee Infratech, the insolvency-hit company that has to deliver around 25,000 houses in Noida. The company plans to finish construction of flats in five years.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has sealed four banquet halls after its owners failed to clear property tax dues despite being served notices. Last month, the MCG issued notices to owners of 72 banquet hall to clear their dues. A deadline of March 31 had been set for this purpose.

The Noida Authority is yet to prepare a list of defaulter builders who have repeatedly failed to clear their respective land dues. In October last year, the Noida Authority Chief executive officer had issued an order to officials to make a list of defaulters and issue them recovery notices. Six months on, the authority is yet to launch action.

India's capacity to dispose of solid waste in a scientific manner will be increased in the near future, says Housig Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said. Currently, only 25 per cent of the solid waste in India is disposed of in a scientific manner. Indian cities generate 1.7 lakh tone of solid waste on a daily basis.
