Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh today tabled the Budget 2018-19. Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal announced a Rs 11,000-crore fund for roads, while Rs 1650 crore was allocated for smart cities in the state. The state government has given a Rs 250-crore push to regional rapid transport, Rs 650 crore has been allocated for the expansion of state highways, another Rs 650 crore for Bundelkhand Expressway, Rs 550 for Gorakhpur Link Expressway and Rs 1000 crore for the Poorvanchal Expressway.

The Delhi government is now working towards a Budget that would bring forth a multi-department action plan to tackle air pollution in the national capital. The measure will include promoting CNG-based generators, a third-party audit of polluting industries and their switchover to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). To be tabled on February 22, it is expected to be Delhi's first 'green' Budget.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal corporation (NMMC) has offered a cash reward to those who report about illegal dumping of debris or garbage within the city limits, especially in mangrove areas.  The move is aimed at ensuring that debris is not dumped illegally or in a haphazard manner.

The Centre will submit a reply to the Supreme Court justifying a special 2006 law. This law that protects unauthorised construction from being sealed in Delhi has nothing to do with the sealing as it was for the municipal agencies in Delhi to look into it. The apex court had earlier said that the authorities do not appear to have carried out their statutory duties in preventing illegal construction in Delhi.
