The Union Cabinet has approved the implementation of Phase-II of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Under the scheme, the government plans to construct a total of 1.95 crore houses by 2022. Around 60 lakh homes would be built in rural India in Phase-II.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17 laid the foundation stone of the long-awaited Patna Metro Rail Project. Modi said the Rs 13,000-crore Metro project was being developed keeping in mind the future needs of people.

Landowners in Karnataka will enjoy ease of doing business in converting their agriculture land for non-agriculture purposes as the state government has launched a simplified affidavit-based online land-use process. The online platform would expedite the process and reduce paperwork.

Sub-registrar offices across the state of Tamil Nadu have gone cashless from February 18. These offices will also be able to provide people with video recordings of the proceedings as CCTVs have been installed in the premises, a move that is likely to bring more transparency in the process.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) would conduct a property tax awareness campaign, parishkaram in the circle and zonal offices to clear property tax issues from February 24 to March 31. The civic body has collected Rs 976 crore against the target of Rs 1,500 crore.
