Porur is evolving into a residential hub owing to its proximity with three major IT SEZs in the area viz. TCG IT Park (now taken up by HT), DLF IT Park and Jayanth Tech Park, which houses the HTML Global Solutions. Renowned companies such as Logica, IBM, Mphasis, Syntel, iGATE, Cognizant and Petrofac, have a presence in this belt.
