Dharwad, Hubli dharwad
Dharwad is the administrative headquarters of the district with the same name. Located in Karnataka, the city was merged with Hubli in 1961 and is now known as Hubli Dharwad. The city is located about 425-km towards Bengaluru’s northwest, along the NH-4, between Pune and Bengaluru. Dharwad is well connected to other metropolitan cities and other cities through airways, railways and roads. The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) provides intercity transportation between Dharwad and Hubli. The Bendre Nagara Sarige is another bus service operated by private players. Private bus operators connect the city to other cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mangalore, Pune and Bengaluru. Dharwad is served by an airport which is located at Hubli.Industrial activities in Dharwad are one of the biggest contributors to the economy of the city.
After Benngaluru, Hubli Dharwad is an emerging industrial hub of Karnataka. There are more than 1000 small and medium-scale industries in the city located in Tarihal and Gokul Road. The Hubballi Software IT Park is located close to the centre of the city and is promoted by the Government of Karnataka and KEONICS.
