Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said 50 million new houses would be built in the country for the poor by 2022. While laying the foundation stone of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh, he said that the central and state governments should work together to build these houses. He added that the initiative would also help in generating more jobs, as the sale of building material would also increase. Read more

Rama Raman, chairperson of three development authorities of Gautam Budh Nagar, has announced that a special panel will be formed to carry out safety audit of all the buildings in Noida and Greater Noida. The panel will inspect the buildings for earthquake resistance, as these two areas lie in a sensitive seismic zone. According to Raman, all the new and old high-rises will be checked and a safety certificate will be issued to them. Read more
